 Dear Class Member

How many Pomona College Class of '62 reunions have you attended?

For many of you, the answer is 8. Quite a few members of our class have attended every single reunion since our first in 1967. Obviously, they wouldn't let pass a chance to get back together with good college friends and to revisit the ever-changing campus. As we get older, each of these opportunities becomes more precious.

Unfortunately, for some of you, the answer is 0, and we hope that you will attend your first reunion this spring. We know you won't be disappointed.

(If your answer is more than 0 but less than 8, now is your chance to improve your score.)

Our 45th reunion - the 9th - is just a couple of months away: Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29, 2007. We have been at work with the Alumni Office, planning a mix of events - some for all alumni classes and some for the Class of '62. An Alumni Weekend schedule is enclosed, and the highlights for our class are included in this letter.

Favorite Class of '62 events from past reunions will be repeated, such as a Sharing Session and a campus walking tour pointing out recent changes that have occurred on campus, conducted by Professor Emeritus Robert Herman '51. We'll even return to Walter's, this time for our Friday lunch. For our Saturday night class dinner, we have invited some of our favorite professors to join us. We will have an enlightening guest speaker, Bruce Poch, who is Pomona College Vice President & Dean of Admissions. (You may wonder whether you would have been offered admission to last September's Class of 2010.)

If you are a regular participant in the Class of '62 listserv, you already know that many members of our class who sang the Brahms Requiem when we were students, including soloist Sue Hutchinson Self, will reprise that performance during the reunion. This will undoubtedly be a very special part of the reunion.

Those of you interested in doing so will have an opportunity to take a tour of the nearby American Museum of Ceramic Arts founded by classmate Dave Armstrong.

Please register now for our 45th reunion and make your hotel reservations. It is none too soon, and it would be very helpful to the reunion planners to know as quickly as possible how many class members to expect.

We would also like to recruit each of you to help assure a large turnout. If you plan to attend, please call friends and encourage them to come, too. The reunion will be more pleasurable for you if your good friends attend.

Here are some highlights for just our class:

P.S. Yes, we realize that some of you are considering waiting for our 50th reunion in 2012. We are optimistic that all of you will be able to attend that landmark reunion as well, but please don't wait. It may not be as easy for all of us to make the trip to Claremont when we are five years older.
