Wildcatting the northern North Sea on a Global Marine floater; Texas tool-pushers, Oklahoma roustabouts, Louisiana mud sniffers, French divers and Scottish cooks (meals boiled or fried 4 times a day).

AT THE PUBLIC TROUGH

Member and ExO of the State Mining & Geology Board following passage of California’s Surface Mining & Reclamation Act in 1975; I’m living with what I helped wrought.

A COUP

Established a 6 mile habitat corridor and conservation bank (along with a 50 million ton aggregate mine) in Cajon Creek, San Bernardino. The project won on a 3-2 vote after a contentious local permitting effort and a fight with state and federal wildlife agencies.

FAMILY

Wife Judy handworks event shirt designs into quilts commemorating an athlete’s sports career. We vend at local rowing events like the San Diego Crew Classic.

Son Andrew, a nurseryman, and his wife Mary recently moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, exchanging the California fast lane life for a slower southern one.

Daughter Abbie works in the Exhibitions Department at the National Gallery in Washington D.C. and freelances as an art historian-writer.
