John C. Arpels

I have spent the past 25 years helping women with PMS, post-partum depression and the hormonal fluxes of the peri-menopausal transition. Fortune smiled down by the acceptance of a number of my articles about breast cancer and female brain hormone chemistry being published in major medical journals, including a co-authored book on women’s health.

I owe all this to Pomona College which got me into medical school. And especially to my faculty advisor Dr. Ryerson (Biology) who continued to believe in me, despite being rejected across the board the first time I applied, and to Dr. Smith (Chemistry) who allowed me to pass organic chemistry despite a complete lack of facility for the subject.
