I am on sabbatical at the moment, and am in the midst of spending six weeks on a working holiday in Yorkshire — work at the University of York and holidays walking in the Dales and Moors.

Memorable moments: certain of my divorces, many of my backpacking and canoeing trips with friends and family, the home birth of my youngest daughter....

Those parts of my Pomona experience that are still important to me: all of them, but especially the chance Nelson Smith gave me to go to graduate school after a disastrous Senior year and consequent abandonment by my advisor, Corwin Hansch, and dismissal by my prospective research advisor, Freeman Allen.  That has made all the difference....

I also value the opportunities Pomona gave me to attend great performances — Dieskau, Gould, Lewis, and all the rest....

Plans for the future: to remain active mentally — teaching and learning — and physically — gardening, hiking, cycling, canoeing, and all the rest....
